About us
Permit answers without the runaround
We exist because finding out what a load actually requires shouldn't take six phone calls and three government websites.
What we do
DOT-Permits.com publishes plain-language explanations of trucking permits and compliance filings, and connects carriers with independent commercial providers who can prepare and file them. We work with owner-operators, small and mid-size fleets, dispatchers, and heavy-haul carriers.
What we are not
We are not a government agency, and we have no authority to issue, approve, expedite, or waive any permit. We cannot make a state move faster than it moves. When something is a hard regulatory requirement, we will tell you so rather than sell around it.
How we make money
Service fees for preparation and filing work are charged by us or by the independent provider handling your request, and are always quoted separately from government permit fees, taxes, and filing fees. You can always file directly with the government yourself, usually for the government fee alone.
How we handle accuracy
Requirements change constantly. We keep our guidance general, avoid publishing fee amounts that go stale, and link to official government resources so you can verify current rules at the source. If you spot something out of date, tell us.
Who we are — and who we are not
DOT-Permits.com is an independent commercial information and referral service. We are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Transportation, FMCSA, or any state DOT.
Any service fee we or a partner provider charge is separate from, and in addition to, government permit fees, taxes, and filing fees charged by state or federal agencies.
Permit requirements, fees, routing rules, and processing times change frequently and vary by state, route, load, and season. Information on this site is general in nature, may not be current, and is not legal or regulatory advice. Always confirm details with the issuing state agency before moving a load.
